A Letter From Our Founders Posted September 10, 2018
To Our Supporters:
We had a vision during the summer of 2015; provide opportunities and exposure for the young girls of our community. Three years later, we are still amazed at the amazing growth and community support we have received along the way as our vision manifested into so much more. Truly, we sit in awe of the accomplishments and progress that Flourish has made and believe wholeheartedly that it as an entity, will continue to grow and impact the lives of young ladies for years to come. As founders, this has been a true work of heart. The long days dedicated to preparation, planning, and execution, the tough decisions, and the sacrifices have made us better. Moreover, they have contributed to the many successes of Flourish.
We are extremely grateful to say that as the vision has grown, so have we. We have recognized that the breadth of our reach has become increasingly limited as we enter the next stage of our lives to pursue our callings and other passions. It is with this knowledge that we along with our board of directors have made the decision to assemble a new leadership team for Flourish Mentoring Program, Inc.
We will be relinquishing many of the roles and responsibilities we currently operate in to the extremely competent and new face of our leadership, Faith Oglesby, our Vice President of Operations, and a new generation of mentors. We introduce this new leadership with confidence and excitement because we intentionally established a program with a strong foundation that is viable and sustainable. After all, Flourish was never about Adaya and Laura, but solely about creating environments and opportunities that allow the girls of our community to grow into their purpose. We have the utmost faith that this new generation of leadership will continue to execute and uphold the goals and vision of Flourish.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Flourish in past and recent years. We are confident that all of you will continue to lend a hand of support to the organizations new leadership.
We can’t wait to see what the future brings for the organization and for the young ladies it is intended to impact. Our futures and the future of Flourish is indeed bright!
Adaya and Laura
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines “flourish” as the “growth or development in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as a result of a particularly favorable environment,” “to reach height of development or influence,” or “to grow luxuriantly.” Marion County has a vast amount of talented young women with the potential to do great things. Marion County also has the highest unemployment rate in the state of South Carolina and is ranked 13th in the state for teen pregnancy. We have to break the cycle. There is a world of possibilities awaiting them and we plan to enlighten them. We not only want these girls to succeed in this or new environments, we want them to optimize their potentials and talents. We want them to flourish.
